Marching Band
The Bearkat Marching Band is the largest spirit organization here at SHSU. For over 80 years, the Bearkat Marching Band has provided entertaining crowd-pleasing shows for countless students, fans, and alumni of the university.
The Fall Guard preforms with the Bearkat Marching Band at ALL Home games and Marching Band exhibition performances
Fees: 1st year member - $200 / Returning member - $100
Winter Guard
The Winter Guard is a member of the Texas Winter Guard Circuit and Winter Guard International
In 2022 the Sam Houston State Winter Guard was the Gold Medalist for the Texas Color Guard Circuit
Fees: Fees range between $500 - $1000 depending on the contest schedule and travel expenses

Tim LeBlanc
Director of Color Guard
Tim LeBlanc was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana where he graduated from Acadiana High School. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he studied music education. He was a founding member of the Echelon Brass Quintet. He currently plays horn in the Woodlands Concert Band in The Woodlands, Texas. He is an Alumni of the Madison Scouts Drum Corps where he marched the horn line. Soon after, he started his color guard career.
Tim is the current instructor for the color guard programs at Sam Houston State University and is also the Drill writer and designer for the SHSU Bearkat Marching Band. He was the color guard caption head for the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. Tim teaches, designs, and choreographs for many successful groups including WGI World Champion, Code Black Winterguard.
